The Hong Kong Budding Scientists Award (2021/22) aims at nurturing the talents of scientifically gifted/ more able students at upper primary (P.4-6) and secondary (S1-4) levels, and providing them with training in scientific problem solving skills as well as skills in collaboration, critical thinking, creative thinking and communication.

齊來轉「塑」快、海洋健康曬!

Theme of the Portfolio

Brief of Work

日常生活中使用的塑膠製品,例如膠袋、保鮮紙等,在生產時會消耗大量的化石燃料,加劇全球暖化。廢棄後的塑膠製品會造成塑膠污染,除了需上百年才能天然分解之外,降解的過程中所釋放的物質對土地、海洋以及生物都會造成影響,甚至經由食物鏈危害人類。有見及此,參賽學生研究從生物可分解塑膠的概念出發,希望製作出一種生物可降解的塑膠材料取代部份傳統一次性塑膠,從而去解決海洋塑膠污染。

Brief of Work

參賽學生參考環保酵素的製作方法,研究如何善用廚餘分解液及堆肥,重建泥土微生物群落,從而提高農作物的生長速度。參賽學生利用從健康工坊所提供的廚餘,包括杏仁渣、柑橘,及獲取一些雜魚,並以黑糖漿和EM菌去製造不同的分解液,讓特定微生物群落得以活化,再利用這些分解液、EM菌和黑糖漿去活化於網購平台所購得的堆肥,和從有機菇場所獲取的菇料作為堆肥,以了解能否刺激植物生長。
