The Education Bureau has commissioned the Hong Kong New Generation Cultural Association to organise the Hong Kong Youth Science and Technology Innovation Competition (HKYSTIC). It aims at providing an opportunity for students to demonstrate their creativity and practical skills as well as facilitating participants’ interaction to further promote STEM education. There are a number of categories of the competition including Invention and Research, Science Fiction Drawing, Outstanding STEM Activity, Outstanding STEM Teacher, Outstanding STEM School, etc.

A Biodegradable Multi-Segment Microswimmer

Brief of Work

A magnetically powered and hydrogel-based degradable microswimmer that can move in fluids was developed. The microswimmer consists of multiple rigid segments, including a head and three bodies, each connected by a soft spring. This microswimmer provides a new way for precision medical therapies such as target delivery, diagnosis and micro-surgery.
