The ‘Stories on Stage’ Drama Competition provides students with an opportunity to collaborate on writing a drama script based on a published short story and to perform it on stage. The competition also provides teachers with teaching strategies and classroom activities suitable for teaching short stories, script writing and drama as part of the English Language Curriculum (KS3-KS4).

Brief of Work

This short drama is an adaptation of Roald Dahl’s ‘Lamb to the Slaughter’, a murder mystery involving an unhappy marriage, a frozen leg of lamb, and a group of detectives who can’t solve the crime despite the evidence right under their nose.

The Bane of the Internet by Ha Jin (adapted for the stage)

Brief of Work

This short drama is an adaptation of Ha Jin’s ‘The Bane of the Internet’, a story about two sisters who keep in touch by email. One is in Brooklyn, NY, trying to make a new life for herself, while the other remains in rural China, recently divorced from an abusive husband and constantly asking her sister for money.
