The Farm Crisis
Theme of the Portfolio
Brief of Work
This creative work consists of five sections. It depicts a story about vegetables, animals and the Aquaman in the LMC Farm.
The vegetables and the animals always play naughtily yet stay still and silent at the sight of farmers. One day, Aquaman and his army visited the farm. but the naughty vegetables and animals maddened him. Hence. Aquaman wanted to destroy all lives in the farm. How did the farmers face this crisis and save everyone? The music depicts the story with the use of instruments at its respective range, dynamics and tempo changes. as well as the improvisation of musicians.
The work conveys the message that no matter how hard the situation is, difficulties can be overcome with the uphold of belief and determination . Even enemies become friends, just like Aquaman and the animals.

Follow Your Heart, Cherish Your Moment
Theme of the Portfolio
Brief of Work
Written for a string quartet, this creative work combines music and video to describe the story of a lonely man during the Lantern Festival meeting a lady and falling in love with her at first sight.
This creative work consists of four sections. The first section employs the tonality of D minor, featuring the disconsolate man wandering in the Festival. In the second section, the cello plays lyrically with rubato, portraying the lady’s elegance. The music modulates from F# minor to F major, and finally to D minor in the third section, representing the fantasies of the man. The cheerful mood changes to a contemplative one. In the last section, the cello plays a melancholy melody. The music ends with Tierce de Picardy, to depict his consciousness of the reality about his dream lady, and that treasuring everything at the moment is most important.

Tale of the Hidden Star
Theme of the Portfolio
Brief of Work
What would you do in a sleepless night? Would you look upon the sky and appreciate the beauty of a star? Have you ever wondered there might be a star not shining brightly, and thus being neglected? This creative work integrates music and video to bring out an encouraging message to teenagers that “everyone can shine”.
The piece begins with a piano introduction, followed by the entry of the percussion instruments and the choral part. The glockenspiel serves to create the atmosphere of a fairytale, while the marimba depicts loneliness in a sleepless night. Pillow has been used as a percussion instrument, symbolising dream and fantasy of a sleepless girl.
Our school song has been adopted towards the end, expressing our gratitude and respect to our school, who taught us to shine brightly and devote our heat and light back to our lovely world.

Consciousness of a Puppet
Theme of the Portfolio
Brief of Work
Integrating music, dance and video, this creative work depicts a struggling puppet, who has grown tired of being manipulated by all the strings attached to it and is looking for a way out.
We live in a world full of restraints, constantly held down by ominous tyranny, unsure about what our future holds. While some people might not notice the strings tugging them, controlling their movements, some remain conscious and are aware of their surroundings. The continuous running notes and chords symbolise the puppet going on a rollercoaster ride. Though not everyone has a happy ending, this puppet does. Finally, the music ends majestically and triumphantly, indicating the puppet is free. The puppet resembles us, while the changing mood in the work represents the ups and downs in the expedition of life.
